Frequently asked questions

Who are Gen H Legal?

Gen H Legal are a conveyancing firm regulated by the Council for Licensed Conveyancers helping people buy and sell homes all over England and Wales.

We’re the independent conveyancing arm of mortgage lender Gen H. If you get a Gen H mortgage, we can provide you with a seamless, end-to-end homebuying experience and discounted mortgage rates.

Or you can use Gen H Legal with another mortgage lender and get the same exceptional service that Gen H customers enjoy.

Conveyancing has long been a frustrating and difficult process for homemovers. We believe it doesn’t have to be that way, and we’re proving it – one home purchase and one happy client at a time.

How do Gen H the lender and Gen H Legal work together?

Gen H is an FCA-regulated mortgage lender serving homebuyers in England and Wales. Gen H Legal is its independent conveyancing arm regulated by the Council for Licensed Conveyancers, designed to work seamlessly with Gen H without compromising on the best interests of customers.

This pairing is the first of its kind in the UK, and means homebuyers can enjoy a truly seamless homebuying experience from a team of experts who are committed to their success.

What kind of property transactions can Gen H Legal work on?

Gen H Legal can act on home purchases and sales. And we can work with many lenders, not just Gen H. Learn which lenders we can work with.

How does the conveyancing process work?

Conveyancing is the legal process that makes your home purchase or sale official, but it can be a long and arduous process that can create frustration and heartache for homebuyers.

This is because the process is fragmented across property purchase chains, different solicitors, different public offices like the Land Registry, and more. Without a good conveyancer advocating on your behalf and chasing up slow parties, the process can drag on – and in the worst cases, can cause your home purchase or sale to fall through.

Gen H Legal takes a uniquely proactive stance on your conveyancing, keeping you in the loop and best positioned to make informed decisions should any issues arise with your purchase or sale. The team is committed to helping you feel empowered and excited through your home purchase – and to helping you move sooner wherever we can

What lenders do you work with?

We’re always adding new lenders to our panel. If you don’t see your mortgage lender listed, reach out to us and we’ll discuss your options.

Why should I use the same conveyancer for selling my old house and purchasing my new one?

We recommend homebuyers always use the same conveyancer for their home sale and home purchase because we feel it’s in their best interest – even if, ultimately, you choose to go with another conveyancer for both.

The important thing is that you’re able to successfully buy or sell your home – and choosing two different conveyancers introduces another opportunity for delays, miscommunications or errors in an already complicated process.

Conveyancing is tough enough without you needing to juggle two conveyancers. Our experienced and dedicated team can handle your entire property transaction, helping you to move sooner and without all the stress.
